Eli Johnson, a high school football player, was shot multiple times while protecting his girlfriend’s grandmother during a break-in.
The senior honor roll student from Huguenot High School in Richmond, Virginia, suffered seven shots while protecting both women from two intruders. The suspects were demanding information on a family member who frequently stays in the apartment.
According to Eli’s father, Eli came out of the back room and jumped into action as he attempted to fight off one of the intruders. He was then shot multiple times by the other intruder.
Eli has already gone through surgery and is able to walk with assistance. He has been receiving a lot of support from the community on his heroics. Eli has hopes of joining the military after high school.
Eli still faces a tough road ahead and his family has set a up a donation fund to help pay for his medical bills.
