The San Francisco 49ers beat the Los Angeles 28-0 in their home opener on Monday night. It was an unimpressive performance by the Rams which leaves a lot of fans wondering, are the 49ers that good or the Rams that bad. However one feels about it, a win is a win in the national football league. Here are the grades from the Monday night beat down.
Blaine Gabbert: C+
After talking to a few of the 49er faithful on twitter, it was apparent my B+ grade I gave Blaine was way too high. Overall Gabbert moved the chains, had command of the offense and ran the football really well. He was inaccurate on a few throws, had some balls batted down to him and almost threw three interceptions. Gabbert threw for 170 yards and 1 touchdown on 22/35 passing with only 4.9 yards per attempt. Sunday will give us a better view of our quarterback.
Offensive Line: A
All throughout the week everyone talked about the Rams defensive line and rightfully so, but very little talk was about the new and improved offensive line the 49ers had. Players like Zane Beadles, Daniel Kilgore and Trent Brown were the key additions to this offensive line. Each player besides Beadles who came over from the Jaguars was here last year but were either not ready to play or not healthy enough. On Monday the 49ers line opened up holes for Hyde, Gabbert and Draughn allowing them to rush for 150 yards and 3 touchdowns. This was against the best defensive line in football as many have stated during the offseason.
Defense: A+
The 49ers defense was flat-out dominant led by All Pro linebacker Navarro Bowman. The Rams could not do anything on that defense, absolutely nothing. Defensive Coordinator Jim O’Neil was true to his word, the 49ers were going to be aggressive and they were. Quinton Dial dominated the Rams offensive Line yesterday, which might be one of his best performances of his career, he definitely deserves an A+ after that performance.
Special Teams: A
The 49ers were dealing with dangerous return man, Tavon Austin, and shut him down. They were ready and very well prepared. The 49ers did not have to try for any field goals because the offense was 4/4 in the red zone.
💺 I put that chair so I could sit in protest of this article.
Real quick. Kapersit is my nigga! He a real one for what he started. I also like the change away from “sports live matter.” That title was problematic.
As for that Monday night high school football game. I’ve never see a bigger gap between the worst team in the league and the second worst team in the league. What a shit show. The only thing that could make that game more entertaining is reading this headline the next day “Kapersit takes a knee on first down to protest…” You gave out 3 A’s!?! Yo are you blind?!? Plain Blaine played like puuure garbage! You recognized everyone except Hyde and Kerley! HOW SWAY!?. Kapersit needs to come in and play so you guys win 4 games this year instead of 3. Man you deserve a losing team. The delusional hope you exude is infuriating.
