The NFL Honors is an award show that honors NFL players for their accomplishments over that past year. The merit based awards that given out are the NFL MVP, Offensive Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Offensive/Defensive Rookie of the Year, and Fantasy Player of the Year. Last year those awards went to Cam Newton for both MVP & OPOY, JJ Watt for DPOY, Offensive Rookie was Todd Gurley, Defensive Rookie was Marcus Peters, Fantasy Player was Antonio Brown. Going into the 2016 season, I believe that these players will have those honors bestowed upon them:

MVP: Aaron Rodgers

Aaron Rodgers

This award has been given to Rodgers twice before, in both 2012 and 2015. Aaron Rodgers is my choice for MVP because he will be getting Jordy Nelson back, moving Randall Cobb back into his spot as the second receiving option. He will also have Eddie Lacy back and a lot more in shape than he was last year. There will also be a viable tight end in Green Bay for the first time in a little while. With all these offensive weapons and the Top two quarterback that he is in the league (second to only Tom Brady), there is no reason why he can’t become the NFL MVP for a third time.

Offensive Player of the Year: Antonio Brown

NFL: Oakland Raiders at Pittsburgh Steelers

The best receiver in the league should finally be given some major recognition and I believe this award would do just that. He was able to amass 1,800 yards even with Ben Roethlisberger missing four games in 2015. There is a very real chance that he breaks Marvin Harrison’s single season receptions record (143 receptions) as he had 136 in 2015. He could also break the single season receiving yard record set by Calvin Johnson of 1,964 yards. If he does these two things, I see no reason why he wouldn’t be the best offensive player in the NFL.

Defensive Player of the Year: Aaron Donalddobson

Some may say the he was robbed of this honor last season, but he lost out to JJ Watt, so you cannot take anything away from him. Donald is one of the best defensive tackles in the league. His stats do not show the full story of his impact that he has on the field. Some people even say he is better than JJ Watt, I am not one of those people. I do believe that Donald is due for the NFL defensive player of the year award. Although Khalil Mack may have something to say about this. He is looking to have a monster year.

Offensive and Defensive Rookie of the Year: Ezekiel Elliot/Jalen Ramseyrookies

These are pretty well known options, Ezekiel Elliot and Jalen Ramsey. Zeke has the perfect opportunity to be great with that offensive line in Dallas and with Romo going down, they will be relying on the run game a lot to get the offense going. Though there are other running backs in Dallas, I believe that by the end of the season, it’ll be the Zeke Show. Jalen Ramsey was the best defensive player on the board next to Joey Bosa, with Bosa missing significant preseason time, Ramsey is the best option for DROY. Ramsey as he did in Florida State should be all over the field for the young but talented Jaguars defense.

Comeback Player of the Year: Jamaal Charlesjamaal-charles-9-19

All too soon people forget how great a player he is. Jamaal Charles is still a Top 5 running back despite all the young backs in the league. Coming off an ACL injury, I see Charles getting back to the Charles that we know and love. He is still a force to be reckoned with in both the passing game and running game. He will remind people that he is still very much Jamaal Charles.
